Outside Influences {A Blogger’s Roll Call: Part Deux}

Time once again to shine the light on some great blogging friends I’ve had the pleasure of reading lately.

iLife Journey: Investing in people, growing as a faith community ~ Relevant questions on the health, commitment and involvement of those in your circle of influence.

Northierthanthou: Auto-Kitty Says ‘Meow’: What She Means is that Belief Is Not a Choice ~ This is probably the most sincere, honest explanation for non-belief that I’ve ever read. Dan Wall has given me a whole new level of understanding of those who claim to have either walked away from belief or never had it in the first place.

Chief of the Least: Jesus Wants the Rose ~ I’ve reblogged this particular post before.  But I felt the need to post it once again; first, because Bryan is one of my favorite bloggers, and second, this is possibly the most succinct video portrayal of my beliefs when it comes to hypocrisy and how Christians should truly feel about those far from God.

The Way Everlasting: Question: Why Christianity ~ J.S. Park has a way of cutting through the B.S. (barmy subtext?) to get to the heart of the matter.  This is a great explanation (and pretty much explains my own stand) on why he believes as he does.  Plus it includes one of the best quotable lines I’ve read in a while:  “I’m not sure I’d even say I am “superior” somehow, as if I picked the best one out of a buffet.  But we must answer for historical reality, which there is plenty of wild but real evidence to suggest some damn crazy thing happened that made the Jews go nuts.”

meanwhilein3: Meanwhile in the Recession ~ A great take on non-profit volunteerism and community service & involvement, from someone who’s been there, done that.

Walter Bright: Father of a Great son ~ an outstanding post on what it means and what it takes to be a meaningful father figure to a great son (and future meaningful father).
